The sixth international conference on Public Awareness and Engagement with Research Infrastructures (PAERI’26) will take place on 18–20 March 2026, hosted by European XFEL in the Hamburg region, Germany.
Under the theme “Navigating Science Communication in a Shifting Landscape,” the conference explores how to communicate science effectively in today’s rapidly changing media and information environment. It brings together science communicators, outreach professionals, and researchers from major research infrastructures across Europe and beyond.
The venue is on the campus of European XFEL, the world’s largest X-ray laser facility. The 3.4 km long facility generates extremely intense X-ray flashes used by researchers from around the world to map atomic details of viruses, film chemical reactions, and study processes like those in the interior of planets — providing an inspiring setting for discussions on how to bring cutting-edge science closer to the public.
The conference is particularly relevant for those interested in science outreach, STEM education communication strategies, and building public engagement with large-scale research projects.
