European Researchers’ Night 2026 takes place on 25 September 2026 across more than 40 countries, making it the largest annual science outreach event in Europe. Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under Horizon Europe, it is expected to welcome over 1 million visitors of all ages into museums, universities, and research institutions across the continent.
Attendees immerse themselves in the world of science by participating in hands-on experiments, interactive games, live discussions, and various activities — all while engaging directly with researchers in their cities. The event brings research and researchers closer to the public, promotes excellent research projects, and increases the interest of young people in science and research careers.
In addition to the main night event, MSCA funds year-round “Researchers at Schools” initiatives that enable students to visit labs, go on field trips, and participate in summer schools throughout the year.
European Researchers’ Night is particularly relevant for the STREAM IT project as it embodies the spirit of making science accessible and exciting for everyone — especially young people who might be considering STEM careers. The event regularly features activities specifically designed to challenge gender stereotypes in science and showcase diverse role models, supporting the broader mission of gender equality in STEM.
