European Youth Week 2026 is a large-scale biennial event organised by the European Commission to celebrate and promote youth engagement, participation, and active citizenship across Europe and beyond. This edition takes place from 24 April to 1 May 2026 under the theme “Solidarity and Fairness.”
The week kicks off on 24 April at the European Parliament in Brussels with over 1,000 participants — mainly young people — who will exchange ideas and views during a full day of activities. The opening ceremony features European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, followed by high-level paired conversations between senior policymakers and inspirational young people.
Throughout the week, hundreds of activities take place across Europe and beyond, organised by National Agencies for Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps, as well as the Eurodesk network. This edition also celebrates 30 years of volunteering in Europe with a special exhibition dedicated to Europeans who have made a difference in society.
The event provides an excellent platform for young people interested in STEAM, education, and civic engagement to connect with EU institutions and peers from across the continent. It is particularly relevant for youth organisations, educators, and anyone working to inspire the next generation of active citizens.
