SCI-COM-E 2026 is a community-driven European conference for professionals working in science communication, taking place on 23–25 September 2026 at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS), Frankfurt, Germany. The conference is held alongside the European Summer School on Science Communication and welcomes contributions from participants in the form of sessions, workshops, and abstract submissions.
The 2026 conference keynote will be delivered by Jan Wörner, former Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA) and a prominent advocate for open science and public engagement. SCI-COM-E aims to strengthen the science communication community across Europe by providing a space for practitioners, researchers, and educators to share experience, methods, and tools, and to build collaborative networks.
The conference programme covers a broad range of science communication topics including new media and digital platforms, public trust in science, science-policy interfaces, participatory science (citizen science), gender and diversity in science outreach, and innovative formats for reaching underrepresented audiences. SCI-COM-E 2026 is directly relevant to STREAM IT’s work on science communication training, mentoring, and gender-inclusive public engagement with STEAM.
