The Citizen Science Summer School 2026 takes place from 7 to 12 June 2026 at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Organised by the Citizen Science Center Zurich, this intensive training programme is designed for researchers and practitioners interested in participatory science, co-creation, and public engagement with research.
The theme of the 2026 edition is “Co-Creating Knowledge: Transforming Research Through Citizen Science.” Participants will explore how to design, implement, and evaluate citizen science projects that involve the public as active contributors to the research process. The programme combines lectures, workshops, group projects, and networking sessions.
As one of the flagship European citizen science training events, the summer school attracts participants from diverse academic backgrounds and countries. It covers topics such as project design, data quality, ethical considerations, community engagement, and the impact of citizen science on policy and society.
For the STREAM IT community, this event showcases how participatory approaches to science can broaden public engagement with STEM, encourage diverse participation, and create meaningful connections between researchers and communities.
