The European Central Bank (ECB) hosted its Girls’ IT Bootcamp 2026 on 23–24 April at ECB headquarters in Frankfurt. This two-day event, timed to coincide with Germany’s Girls’ Day, introduced girls aged 10–17 to the world of technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on coding workshops, interactive challenges, and mentoring sessions with ECB IT professionals.
Participants explored programming fundamentals, cybersecurity basics, data science concepts, and creative problem-solving using technology. The bootcamp aimed to spark curiosity about IT careers and demonstrate that technology is for everyone — regardless of gender.
The ECB Girls’ IT Bootcamp is part of the ECB’s broader youth engagement initiatives, which seek to make the institution more accessible and to inspire young people, particularly girls, to pursue careers in STEM. The event is free of charge and open to girls from the Frankfurt area.
