he European Patent Office (EPO) welcomed 201 girls aged 11–15 from 48 nationalities and 15 schools during Girls’ Day 2026. For the first time, the event was held at all three EPO sites: The Hague (14 April), Munich (16 April), and Vienna (23 April).

Girls explored the world of intellectual property through interactive workshops, met women working in STEM roles at the EPO, and learned how patents protect inventions and drive innovation. The event included hands-on activities demonstrating how technology and engineering shape everyday life.

This initiative is part of EPO’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of inventors and innovators, with a special focus on encouraging girls to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The multi-site format allowed the EPO to reach a more diverse group of participants across Europe.
